On May 7, 2019, International Data Corporation’s (IDC) Worldwide Semiannual Software Tracker named Salesforce the #1 CRM provider for the sixth year in a row. Salesforce increased both its market share position and its revenue more than any other Customer Relationship Management (CRM) vendor. In fact, Salesforce’s market share has increased by more percentage points in the past year than all other top 15 CRM vendors combined! The competition includes big names such as Oracle, SAP, Adobe, and Microsoft.
In the Salesforce press release announcing this accomplishment, Salesforce president and chief strategy officer Alex Dayon said, “Companies of every size and industry are transforming how they operate in the digital age – and those transformations begin and end with the customer. As the latest IDC Tracker shows, Salesforce’s relentless focus on delivering CRM innovation and customer success has fueled our growth worldwide, and solidified our leadership in the market that we pioneered 20 years ago.”
What Is The Worldwide Semiannual Software Tracker?
IDC’s Worldwide Semiannual Software Tracker monitors over 80 different software market segments worldwide. It tracks different vendors’ historical performance as well as five-year forecasts in order to get a holistic view of the technologies. This tracker measures total software revenue, which is an accumulation of license, maintenance, and subscription revenue. It covers vendors all across the globe, totaling 53 different geographies.
